The Level of Being

Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? What is our purpose? Why are we living?...

The poor 'Intellectual Animal' mistakenly called man, unquestionably not only does not know, but furthermore, he does not even know that he does not know...

Worst of all is the very strange and difficult situation in which we find ourselves. We ignore the secret of all our tragedies and yet we are convinced that we know it all...

Take a 'Rational Mammal'. a person who believes himself to be influential in life into the middle of the Sahara Desert, leave him there, far away from any oasis and observe what occurs...

The facts will speak for themselves. The 'Intellectual Humanoid', though he presumes himself to be strong and believes himself very manly, is really frighteningly weak...

The 'Rational Animal' is one hundred percent stupid. He thinks the very best of himself. He believes he can develop wonderfully through nursery school, manuals of etiquette, primary and secondary schools, university, the prestige of fatherhood and so forth...

However, in spite of so much education, good manners, titles and money, everyone knows well enough that the slightest stomach-ache causes us grief and that deep down we continue being unhappy and miserable...

It is sufficient to read World History to know that we are the same barbarians of old, and that instead of getting better, we have become worse...

The twentieth century with all its spectacle, wars, prostitution, world-wide sodomy, sexual degeneration, drugs, alcohol, extreme cruelty, monstrosity, etc., reflects what we are. We have no reason then to boast of having reached a superior stage of development...

To think that time implies progress is absurd. Unfortunately, the 'learned ignoramuses' continue to be trapped in the 'Dogma of Evolution'...

In the gloomy pages of our 'dark history' we continue to find the same horrifying cruelties, ambitions, wars, etc...

Nevertheless, our 'Super-civilised' contemporary citizens are still convinced that war is something unimportant, a fleeting accident that has nothing to do with their so boasted 'Modern Civilisation'.

What’s most important is the way each person is. Some people will be drunks, others temperate, some honourable and others shameless. There are all sorts in life...

Humanity is the sum of individuals, what the individual is, humanity is, the government is and so on...

The whole is then the extension of the individual. The transformation of the masses, of nations, is not possible if the individual – if each person – does not transform himself...

Nobody can deny that different social levels exist. There are people submerged in brothels, there are church people, businesspeople, country folk, etc...

Thus there are also different levels of Being. Whatever we are internally, magnanimous or petty, generous or mean, violent or peaceful, chaste or lustful, attracts the diverse circumstances of life...

A drunk will attract drunks, and will always find be seen in taverns and bars; this is obvious...

What will the thief attract, the egoist? How many problems, prison, misfortunes?

However, embittered people, tired of suffering, want to change, to turn a new page...

Poor unfortunate people! They want to change and do not know how, do not know the procedure. They are stuck in a dead-end street...

What happened to them yesterday will happen again today and will happen again tomorrow. They always repeat the same mistakes and do not learn the lessons of life, not even when hit by lightning...

Everything in their lives is repeated. They say the same things, do the same things, complain about the same things...

What is our moral level? Or, better still: what is our 'Level of Being'?

The repetition of all our miseries, playing of scenes, misfortunes and mishaps will continue as long as our 'Level of Being' does not radically change...

With a just reason we can solemnly affirm that 'the exterior is the reflection of the interior'.

When we change internally and the change is radical, then the exterior circumstances of life also change.

At this time (1974), I have been observing a group of people who have taken over a neighbouring area. Here in Mexico they call these people by the curious name of 'PARACHUTISTS'.

They border the rural district CHURUBUSCO, very close to my house and that is why I have been able to study them closely...

To be poor is not, under any circumstance, a crime; the problem does not consist of this but rather in their 'Level of Being'...

They fight among themselves daily, get drunk, insult each other, murder the companions who share their misfortunes, live in filthy huts in which hatred reigns instead of love...

Many times I have thought that if any of these individuals would eliminate from within: hatred, anger, lust, drunkenness, cursing, cruelty, egoism, calumny, envy, self-love, pride, etc., etc., other people would like them, simply by the Law of Psychological Affinities, they would begin to associate with more refined, more spiritual people; these new relationships would be definitive for economic and social change...

This system would enable that individual to abandon the 'pigsty', the 'filthy sewer'...

So, if we really want a radical change, the first thing we must understand is that each one of us, (whether black, white, yellow or brunette, ignorant or erudite), is at one 'Level of Being' or another...

What is 'Our Level of Being'? Have you ever reflected upon this? It is impossible to move to another level if we ignore the state we find ourselves in...
